Our Work

What We Do

Rescue

The heartbreaking reality in Turkey is that hundreds of dogs are out on the streets starving, injured & ill. There is a major problem with over population and many locals see these dogs as nothing more than vermin.
We work with our volunteers who go out and about feeding and caring for the street dogs. They will inform us of any dogs they come across who are in urgent need of veterinary treatment. They then take the dog to the local veterinary clinic where they carry out any immediate treatment followed by tests and further treatment. If the dog requires more extensive veterinary services we will arrange transport to the bigger clinics further away, in places such as Istanbul.
Once the dog is well enough they will then be moved to one of our two shelters, where they will continue to recieve any medical treatment they may need.

Rehabilitate

When a dog comes to our shelter, they are well enough to have left the veterinary clinic but may not necessarily be ready to find a home.
Our volunteers who run our shelters devote their time to looking after our dogs. Not only by feeding and keeping their environment clean and warm, but also by spending time socialising and getting the dog used to being around humans.
Most of these dogs have never experienced love, or what it is like to be safe. Therefore for some it takes a bit of getting used to.
It's amazing how forgiving animals are and how soon they learn to trust.
Once our volunteers have built a bond with a dog, they will then give us a profile about the dog and be able to tell us what sort of home would suit each dog best.

Rehome

Our main goal is to eventually find each dog we rescue a loving home. We transport dogs to the UK via road couriers. This is rather expensive but we do our best to try and keep the cost as low as we can. We have rehomed over 45 dogs so far.
Sometimes a home in Turkey can be found but this is only subject to a successful home check by one of our volunteers.
We match each dog to a specific home. Not all applicants will be successful for the dog they have chosen. If this is the case, we will discuss with the applicant about any other dogs who may be more suitable.
In order to be considered for rehoming we ask anyone interested to look at our adoption section and fill in a rehoming form.
